DAVID & JEANIE BURT

David and Jeanie met through a relative of David’s who was a friend of Jeanie. The friend knew both were searching for a Christian mate. David visited Jeanie’s congregation three times before he finally met her in April 1982. They have been married since September 25, 1982.

They have three married children and eight grandchildren: Anya and Kevin Bradford (Kai, Jad, and Brea); Natalia and Jeff Rariden (Ryann, Judah, and Ryder); Tia and Ethan Cobb (Thatcher (deceased) and Adriana).

After 34 years with Xerox Corp., David now is a Print Production Expert Technician for Konica-Minolta. Jeanie is an Assistant Professor in the HU College of Nursing. Prior to moving to Searcy in 1995, Jeanie taught in the Baptist School of Nursing in Little Rock.

David grew up in North Little Rock. Jeanie grew up in Booneville, AR. David enjoys doing yard work and mows lawns for widows in the neighborhood. The couple enjoys traveling and being with family. Jeanie loves reading mystery novels and teaching CPR and First Aid classes for HU students, foster parents, community groups, etc.

David has served as en elder at Cloverdale since 2003.

Lesser Known Facts

They rode off from their wedding reception on a bicycle built for two (after changing clothes) and were featured on the front page of the Arkansas Democrat and were mentioned on the Sunday evening newscast on THV-11.

Jeanie was followed by the KGB when smuggling Bibles into the Soviet Union. When David was 6, he met Jimmy Hoffa, who took a picture with him for publicity.

Mission Work

Chemlsford, Massachusetts with Danny and Heidi Mercer; Hungary with Michael and Lisa Shuttlesworth; Cape Town, South Africa with Mark and Flora Swartz; San Cristobal, Guatemala with Paul Crites. David works with World Bible School. Prior to marriage, Jeanie did mission work in the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, China, and Hong Kong; Japan and Thailand followed soon after marriage. Jeanie volunteers in medical clinics for the homeless and uninsured.
