Brent and Sandy Rogers

Brent and Sandy Rogers have been working in Japan for 19 years. Brent and Sandy graduated from Harding in 1980 and were missionaries in India for three years. Then, in California, Sandy taught special education full-time while Brent taught ESL, preached, and completed an M.A. in teaching ESL/EFL at San Francisco State University.

In 1991 they moved to Japan, where Brent initially taught in a branch of an Oregon community college. Along with having two kids, Tim and Rachel, in elementary school, Brent and Sandy began teaching private English classes and studying Japanese. The first term in Japan lasted six years and saw the establishment of an English school that would become LOGOS, where Brent and Sandy work now.

In 1997 they returned to the States for Rachel to go to high school. Tim was already in Harding Academy. In Searcy, Brent taught the first graduate classes in the Teaching ESL core at Harding and taught English for three years at Augusta High School. Sandy taught special education at Jacksonville Junior High and Augusta Elementary School.

In 2001 Brent, Sandy, and Rachel returned to Japan. Rachel stayed one year before moving back to Searcy. In 2002 the first LST (Let's Start Talking) team came and helped the Rogers and Ellis families to begin serious and intensive evangelism efforts.

Joined by Beth Johnson in 2014, the team is now teaching English to over 100 students learning conversational English, and there are about 40 students coming to Bible class almost every week.

Brent and Sandy are the grandparents of Zoiee, Destyn, and Willow.

We are constantly on the outlook for workers to help out in Kojima. Please contact us about a schedule that fits in with your plans.

In 2013, Cloverdale elders approved plans for us to begin raising funds for a salary so we can  teach English less and do more evangelism.  Those fund-raising efforts have been slowed by a series of medical issues. If you would like to contribute to their support, please send your checks to Rogers Japan Fund, Cloverdale Church of Christ, 300 E. Park Ave, Searcy, AR 72143.
