At Cloverdale, we believe that God’s Scripture is powerful, and that reading it regularly and discussing it with others are key elements of discipleship. Toward that end, each year, we follow congregational Bible study plans.

Below, you can view and download our current plan, as well as plans from previous years to help you grow in your biblical knowledge and spiritual formation.

2023– LEAD ME IN GREEN PASTURES (JUNE-DECEMBER)

This Bible reading plan is designed around a meditative reading of the Psalms, with one Psalm assigned per weekday. Readers are encouraged to (1) Read the Psalm for the day, slowly, and multiple times (2) Reflect on what you have read by answering some simple questions, (3) Respond in prayer, praying through that day’s Psalm, and (4) Return in thought throughout the day. It is encouraged that you do this with a partner, and when you meet each week, you can choose what you want to discuss from the previous week’s reading.

2023– ESSENTIAL 100 (JANUARY-MAY)

This Bible reading plan provides 50 selected readings from the Old Testament and 50 selected readings from the New Testament based on major characters, events, and themes of the Bible. It is designed to help you get the big picture about God’s word and to create a regular habit of Bible reading. This study is designed to do with a partner, and uses the Discovery Bible Study Method. With each selection, the reader is encouraged to ask: (1) What do we learn about God? (2) What do we learn about people? (3) How will you apply this passage to your life? (4) Who needs to hear this message?

2022– DOERS OF THE WORD (CLOVERDALE VISION)

This year’s Bible readings were organized around elements of Cloverdale’s new vision and focused on not just reading God’s word, but doing it (James 1.22-25). It is encouraged to do this with a partner, to help with accountability and also promote talking about Scripture with others as a regular and important part of a life of discipleship.

For January–June, there is a daily reading taken from throughout the Bible and centered on one of the key ideas of Cloverdale’s vision (Discipleship, Inviting, Hospitality, Maturing, Sending, Intergenerational), and following each reading is a reflection question with space to write down your thoughts. There are also ideas provided to help with putting what you read into practice.

For July–December, daily readings comes from the New Testament, and invite readers to ask the questions: “Where do I see the six vision points reflected in the text?” and “What action(s) can I take this week to be obedient to what I read?“
